Hiccups on the path to greatness...
Published on April 2, 2007 By CerebroJD In Docks
Well, we're now into the beta testing phase for the popular graphical shortcut and taskbar replacement, ObjectDock!  However, with all developement, there are growing pains as well.  Its best to get them all gathered together here in one place, where the developer can pop in and keep us all up to speed on changes and fixes.

Without further ado, I declare this thread open for business!

Greetings. 1.59b still reports that the mouse dll/hook failed to load. (NO DLL, mouse) This is new behavior with the 1.59 series of releases. Is it possible for me to get an old copy of 1.58, as I have grown rather dependent upon OD+?

Cepheid: Something is going wrong with your install. Try emailing support they may have a better walkthrough for you...but I would recommend trying uninstalling (but preserving your settings) with Stardock Central, rebooting, making sure the ObjectDock directory is manually cleared out of all program files (DockShellHook.dll specifically in your case), and then reinstall from SDC again.

Hi,

All seems to works fine for me with latest objectdock plus 1.6 except this feature (included in 1.5 build) >>

Thanx in advance.

Hi Darken, XP or Vista? On Vista I had a much more reliable time getting folder icons and can even get the live-previews when available ; I dont think we'd see that on that platform so let me know if it is. On XP on the other hand its markedly less pleasent, it's completly different routine. Which are you using?

Hi JMB1984, doh! I use Windows XP.
on Apr 22, 2007
I keep getting a Start Button docklet error - Can't display Start Menu - error injecting start menu helper - or something to that effect.

I'm running the latest OD beta on Vista Home Premium.

Hi Captain - is UAC enabled? If so, is either explorer or ObjectDock being run as "administrator"?

Hey Jeff; just noticed something with the new weather docklet. Not sure if would be on your end or AccuWeather.com. Have updated weather 3 times, at AccuWeather.com temp for my location is 68, on docklet it is showing 51.

In Firefox I use Forecastfox, which uses AccuWeather also, it is displaying proper temp.

Cavan1: we're still at work getting our feed 100% on the updating...here's a quick way to check the data of the feed. (We're using a 100% legit feed now, accuweather pushes us the data thanks to a contract we have with them ) Hold shift+control and then rightclick->configure on the weather docklet. It'll show the last update date/time for the two feeds involved. I think the forecast one is generally a little ahead, but yeah. So ok, yes for me it seems to be an hour off...hasn't updated since 8:15...and the temp has dropped considerably in that period of time. It'll be an ongoing process

Thanks,

-Jeff

UAC is not enabled.

Should I be running OD as administrator?

JMBdev: Just to report that all the previous issues I've had are now sorted in the latest build.
Only one minor issue remains, and that is task switching from the dock taskbar sort of half works in some cases. By that I mean that the application is select such that shortcut keys work (e.g. in Opera pressing crtl+tab displays the list of open tabs) and it is displayed as the current application when pressing alt+tab, but the main window is not brought to the front. Seems to happen both on XP & Vista this one.

I tried running OD as Administrator and still get the same error.

JMB1984 - Thanks for the advice, but no luck. I reinstalled 1.50 and it works fine, so something that changed between 1.58 and 1.59 is causing DockShellHook.dll not to load.

I have 2 od+ icons in the system tray. No big deal, Just annoying.
The program keeps closing for no apparent reason. I don't get any crash reports. It just simply disappears from time to time.

rustyram: it sounds like somehow there are two startup thinks to ObjectDock. can you check that out? try for example going in to ObjectDock and turning off "run at startup" and when you reboot see if it still comes up or not.

thanks
