Hiccups on the path to greatness...
Published on April 2, 2007 By CerebroJD In Docks
Well, we're now into the beta testing phase for the popular graphical shortcut and taskbar replacement, ObjectDock!  However, with all developement, there are growing pains as well.  Its best to get them all gathered together here in one place, where the developer can pop in and keep us all up to speed on changes and fixes.

Without further ado, I declare this thread open for business!

MySecret: yeah I should be adding more user-notification on the Tray side of it too. The tray module also checks file integrity before it can operate. Currently, failing silently if those checks fail. So if a file has a single byte messed up by the download, it won't work. Since I've definitely heard of people having install problems before, this could be the case. Leading me to think so based on that both of these modules appear to be silently not working. In the next refresh I'll have them report that they won't work rather than silently won't work....but in the mean time I'd recommend uninstalling OD (you can leave your files of course)...or just crawling in and deleting "ObjectDock.exe, StardockWeather.ocx, StardockTray.dll, and DockShellHook.dll" from the OD folder...rebooting...and then reinstalling OD+ from SDC. Hopefully with better results

Hmmm, you're lucky MySecret! It didn't work for me
I just did the file delete thing not a complete uninstall - maybe that's the next step?

I type city, country and the docklet works fine (Jerusalem, Israel)

Zubaz: I'll touch it if I wanna.

Additonal issue... I have a zoomer dock for running apps. When clicking on the app icon, sometimes it activates the app and brings it to the foreground, however about 2/3 of the time, if I've switched to other apps, it does not bring the app to the foreground, though the previous app still loses focus. This definitely is a problem.

Chris
Make sure to save your theme FIRST !~!

I did the complete uninstall through SDC as well as a reg clean with JV16 Power Tools. It reinstalled my theme as well, so no extra work setting it back up.

I am asking again to have both running programs & system tray on the same dock.

That's there in the normal dock.  You want it on one tabbed dock?

Zubaz, At times I only use 1 dock and before the updates from 1.5 I could have the system tray on the left of the dock & my running programs on the right all at the same time on the same single dock.

Now I have to open another dock to have both running at the same time, or repeatedly going into dock contents to reset on that 1 dock.

This must be a big It's My Secret as this has never been an option, has always been one or the other. I have rolled back to 1.5, for position, selecting left or right, setting in Dock Contents is Tray or Taskbar Position.

I have done it Cavan, honestly, I used it when I was making several rectangle selections with Faststone image capture then uploading them. I was constantly going back & forth with that & FF

RE: mouse freezing....this happens when I am waiting for the OD image folder in My Documents to open. After trying to constantly move the mouse I am able to move it off the window but am unable to do anything on my computer. I do believe it is due to the large # of images I have in that folder and how OD access that info.

WOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I have my local weather showing, It appeared 20 mins after updating it & still showing location not found.

is there anyway to just do a sys tray? I'd like to be able to have the systray on the right side bottom and another regular dock in the center or left side bottom.

pardon...just figured it out...have to create 2 one tab docks.

..have to create 2 one tab docks.

Or you can create a standard dock, set it up to show sys tray then drag the default icons off so only sys tray icons remain.

Thanks...that's pretty much how I ended up doing it. I've got a 1 tab system tray on the right and a 1 tab task tray on the left with a regular dock in the middle with some docklets Pretty cool.

With the latest build, the weather docklet can't find my location. My US zip code is 68136. It also can't find the city.

Known issue.  Being addressed.

Since the most recent update (I think yesterday's) the taskbar and system tray functionality is a bit off. I had to delete my taskbar dock and create a new one to get it to react to clicking (minimizing apps, bringing them to the front, etc.). It still acts a bit funny and I have to close OD+ and restart to get it to work.

System tray docks are another thing. I had one created, it zooms, but doesn't respond to anything. I deleted that dock, created another which worked for a few minutes, and is now not working either. I didn't have any of these problems before yesterdays update.

Edit: So, after a bit more playin, it appears that this is a problem once you set the dock to autohide. A tabbed dock system tray works fine, and the zoomer does as well until the second I set it to hide. Once it has been set to hide, the dock is useless. It doesn't start working if you change to not be autohide. You have to just delete the dock.
